Day Programs for an Empowering, Community-Driven Experience

day programs for an empowering, community-driven experience

Day Programs for an Empowering, Community-Driven ExperienceWe introduced our day habilitation program in 2006 as Gateways Industries, in cooperation with the Mahoning County Board of Developmental Disabilities. The goal of the program is to provide vocational support, employment, community activities and other fun, empowering services for people with developmental disabilities and physical challenges.

From supported employment to leisure activities, our day programs offer specialized services with staff who understand the challenges and benefits of an individual-specific approach.

The Advantages of Sheltered Workshop

Our sheltered workshop has a fun atmosphere and a structured Monday through Friday work environment. Attendees perform packaging services on subcontracts with area manufacturers, and along the way they learn to work with other individuals and to use acquired skills to earn wages.

Some of the features of our sheltered workshop include:

  • Performance-based pay that adjusts with level of participation
  • Fun, nurturing environment with a qualified, experienced staff
  • A large workshop facility with the capacity for 178 individuals
  • Vocational services for custodial training and supported employment for qualified individuals

Our individuals benefit from a vocational setting that adapts to meet their specific abilities, providing a challenging but fun way to interact with peers and be a productive member of the community.

Entertainment and Community Involvement

entertainment and community involvementEntertainment and Community InvolvementGateways Industries also offers monthly field trips for our individuals; movie nights, seasonal celebrations, picnics and other events that foster a sense of community involvement and inclusion. Our individuals enjoy the benefits of normal employment along with a fun, low-pressure atmosphere that promotes healthy development.

In cooperation with Mahoning Adult Services Corporation (MASCO), Gateways Industries is proud to offer a workshop that promotes community experiences, individuality and a productive lifestyle.
